Water Flow: 10,300 CFS
The Oswego River has been very fishy lately. With river temps around 48-50 degrees, there are a wide variety of species pushing into the river. There have been confirmed reports of the following fish species being caught in the river over the past two weeks; Steelhead, Brown Trout, Lake Trout, King Salmon, Atlantic Salmon, Smallmouth Bass, Walleye, Perch, White Perch, Bullhead and Shortnose Redhorse. If you are looking to get into a mixed bag of fish then the Oz is the place to be right now.
With flows above 10,000 CFS, the lower river offers the most fishable water for shore anglers. Anglers who are interested in fishing the Oswego River for walleye season opener should focus their efforts from the 104 Bridge to the mouth. If the walleye haven't made a major push into the lower river yet, then they can be targeted in the harbor and along the lake shore.
The lake bite continues to be hot this spring out of Oswego with consistent action on Brown Trout, Lake Trout, King Salmon, and Atlantic salmon. Brown trout are going for stickbaits and spoons in 5 - 30 FOW. Some anglers have been producing better results lately in the 15 - 30 FOW range. Charters are getting their limit of brown trout on most days with enough to time to run out to 100 FOW and beyond to catch a limit of lakers. The King Salmon fishing has been awesome out of Oswego over the past month, with veteran lake anglers stating that this has been the best April for Kings that they have ever seen! The weather is looking good this weekend for those looking to troll for salmon and trout out of Oswego. Wright's Landing Marina is your best option for launching a boat right now.
